Ann Hui wins big with "A Simple Life" in HK

The Hong Kong Film Directors Guild held its annual dinner on Wednesday. As an important part of the event, the Guild handed out awards for Best Films and Best Directors. And this year, well-known director Ann Hui wins big with "A Simple Life".

The three films selected by The Hong Kong Film Directors Guild as Best Films of 2011 are "A Simple Life," "Let the Bullets Fly" and "Overheard 2."

Director Ann Hui’s "A Simple Life" tells a touching story about the close knit relationship between a successful film maker and his nanny. It has taken home countless awards in both Hong Kong and abroad.

Getting her award from Jackie Chan, who serves as Honorary President to the organization, Hui jokingly said that she has been getting too many prizes recently.

Well-known director Ann Hui wins big with "A Simple Life".

Ann Hui said, "So if I’m acting like I’m full of myself, I hope the good friends at the Directors’ Guild will help to keep me grounded."

Ann Hui also walked away with the final big award of the night - the "Honorary Award" for her achievement in cinema and contributions to Hong Kong film industry.

The three Best Directors’ Awards went to Ann Hui for "A Simple Life," Jiang Wen for "Let the Bullets Fly" and Tsui Hark for "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate."
