International Forum on Confucianism 2012 kicked off

{p2}The International Forum on Confucianism 2012, co-sponsored by Renmin University of China (RUC) and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS), was held in Beijing from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3 with the theme of "Confucianism and ecological civilization". Experts including Chen Yulu, president of RUC, Park In-kook, president of KFAS, Nishihara Haruo, former president of Waseda University, Bernard Li, former president of Fu Jen Catholic University, Zhang Liwen, director of Institute of Confucian Studies of RUC and Shao Wei, secretary-general of China Education Association for International Exchange, attended the forum.

Chen Yulu said in his speech that the theme of the forum "Confucianism and ecological civilization" showed scholars always pay great attention to humanistic concern in modern society. Chinese traditional culture, especially ecology content in Confucianist ideology, has great significance to realizing scientific development and promoting ecological civilization.

More than 100 experts and scholars from China, S. Korea, U.S., Canada, Macao, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other over 10 countries and regions attended the event. The International Forum on Confucianism was founded in 2004. It is an annually held event and becoming increasingly influential in the world.
